MONTANA MOUNTAIN TOUR DAY 2

TDSC03045

The wagon train left in smaller groups today from 7:00  to 7:15.  It appears that the horns on P.J.’s truck snagged a snake by the name of Hennrietta.  We fear that she has met her demise.   Click on any pic for a large version.

The Edwards stopped at a gas station to take a shower, or at least that is what it sounded like over the walkie talkie, actually tTDSC03053hey stopped to check a tire.    Just shows how good the walkie talkies are.   While they were stopped, Mark took #34 out of the trailer and drove it for the next hundred miles and got a good sun/wind burn.

Went thru a little town, really little town called Orovada, in which the LDS church was a modular unit and the second building in town had multiple signs which boasted of a bar, general store, motel, casino and gas station.  Missed getting a picture of that one.  The third building in town was a huge NAPA store, all of this at just a crossroads, but those were the essentials for the surrounding ranches.

Trivia: Basque, OR has a population of 10.

Had lunch at a Red Robin.  One of their specialties is bottomless root beer floats.   Like to killed ourselves, because nobody asked, they just kept bringing them until we cried uncle.  After lunch, Bob M. checked his trailer tires and found a bubble, not good, changed that sucker out.  Bob E. has a leaking tire, so far just requires filling twice a day.

TDSC03060 Scenery on Hwy 55 from Boise to McCall up the Payette River gorge, beautiful country, lots of rafters. Our little group of  Bob, Bob and Bob were very entertaining today on the walkie talkies.  They started asking questions about old time stuff, like characters, sidekicks, and games, like kick the can, pin the tail on the donkey, etc.

Tonight Maria J. organized a dinner at Lardo’s, local hamburger haven, good time was had by all.  Lord sakes, stuffed again.  Finishing off with some misc other pictures.

MONTANA MOUNTAIN TOUR DAY 1

Poor ole Bronco was straining to get up the driveway this morning. Just about made it in low gear without stopping to rest. Gassed up in Milpitas and headed out on 680 to meet the Model T touring group in Pleasanton. Jorgensens and Edwards were waiting for us for 20 minutes. After we all got there we pulled out and left the Edwards and Jorgensens in typical T touring fashion.

We all met again at Denny’s in Roseville for breakfast. We ate, laughed, chatted and then checked out everyone’s rig. Well, Peder has been pushing everyone off the road with his Texas big horns mounted to the front of his truck. He even has many kinds of appropriate cow sounds coming from his vehicle.  In numbers, we have 7 modern vehicles trailering 9 Model T’s. You figure out that one.

Stopped for ice cream in Wadsworth. Mark E. checked his trailer and discovered that #34 wanted out because three of its towing straps had come undone. The left front wheel was pushing on the left side of the trailer and the rear right wheel was pushing on the right trailer wall. That speedster really wanted out. Fixed the towing straps and shot down the road to 80. Oops we don’t have everyone. Again in true T touring fashion we left the Beamans  on their own. Bob E. said I do not want to lead, I’ll bring up the tail. Well, we saw a sign that said speed limit 75 and the next thing we saw “White Lightning” streaking past us and out of sight. Finally, met him at the motel in Winnemucca.

All T’s accounted for and all nineteen people arrived in Winnemucca. Off to the Martin Hotel for a Basque dinner………………Oooohhhhh,,,,,, have you ever had a Basque dinner, you know, where they just keep bringing the food?   We now have a bunch of really stuffed T drivers.      Pat says the wine was very good, actually she didn’t really have any because the two people sitting next to her who shall remain nameless drank it all.

Saw this dragster across the street, he is here for a car show this weekend.  He said there is a Model T part in their somewhere.  Bob Beaman thinks we need this engine.

MONTANA MOUNTAIN TOUR – DAY ZERO

We are ready, we must be ready, the house is empty, the car is full, the trailer is full, the front wheels on the Bronco look  like they are about to lift off the ground.  Anyway,  we meet the rest of the group tomorrow morning in Pleasanton at 7:00am and off we go.  We have 10 cars from our local Model T club going.  Should  be a blast.   Stay tuned.  Click on the pics for a larger version.
