MARQUETTE – Day 22

Well, we are finally heading West. Marquette, MI to Eau Claire, WI, 353 miles.  First day out, we jumped on it and covered the ground.  Started out with another one of those Lake Superior sunrises,,,,TDSC02973Punched up home on the GPS, probably should not have done that,,,,,,TDSC02982  We did stop a couple times at things that caught our eye, we had to admire this steam engine which was steaming up for a days work,,,TDSC02988 and just happened to find an antique store at a gas station, 15 bucks for a good set of hames, hey, you never know when you will need a set of hames,,,  TDSC02991 As the day wore on in Wisconsin, we realized that we had not had any cheese, so started a search for a cheese store.  On our 3rd foray down a country road, we found this little establishment and stocked up.  They said it was award winning cheese,,,   so we are now cheese gourmets,,,TDSC02993TDSC02992Patti’s thing for the day was recording weird signs  that took her fancy such as:  First Baptist Church of Witch Lake,,,  Peme Bon Won River,,,    12 Foot Falls,,,   Custom Meat Butchering,,,   Polish Ponderosa,,,   Nite Crawlers,,,   Packem Inn,,,   Holistically Raised Beef,,,   Reel’im Inn,,,  Padded Foot Taxidermy,,,   Styrofoam Basements,,,   Can you tell she has been in the car for a long time?

Hmmm I wonder if the words "Ice Cream" had anything to do with your choice of a cheese shop?! ; ) So glad all is well and you are headed west. Chris and Sharon

We had a very relaxing day yesterday, 48 mile tour through some beautiful countryside & villages. Today is brunch between 10 & noon, antique shops in the Village of Holly & late afternoon BBQ. Tomorrow it's back to Kalamazoo. Weather prediction for next Thursday is 103! May have to ride with Eric in the modern car. Safe travels.

Happy to not hear of any serious car problems. Is there still room for more antiques? I guess you could buy a trailer. You're heading in the right direction. Just keep the sunrise in your rear-view mirror.
