MARQUETTE – Day 9

Springfield, IL to Kalamazoo, MI, 347 miles.  Another long day of catch-up to get back on schedule, lots of driving, a little sightseeing.  We struck out early ahead of the group today to try and get in a little earlier today, and we actually got in at 4:00.  Here’s a few things that we did take time to see.  Every little town has a gimmick.TDSC02572A restored Standard station. TDSC02573And a restored Texaco station.  TDSC02575  A fire truck in the Texaco station.TDSC02576 Couple misc sights, a very unusual wind mill,,,TDSC02577 A Frank LLoyd Wright bank building out here in the middle of Illinois.TDSC02578 Then we saw this parade of tractors going over the freeway.  Took a little video of them just for fun.
This is for you, Gene Mandere.

And another dose of big city freeway in Chicago, (please don’t break down here!!!!)TDSC02583 But all’s well that ends well,,,,,TDSC02587Mechanical status report:  Rich has lost his AC, the other three all still doing okay.  Chuck has the phaeton in a uhaul van and will catch up with us tomorrow.

Thanks for the great parade of tractors. We thought we were almost back in Brooks for the Steam Up. Good stuff. P.S. From Carol; "Just got to love those farm boys!" Thanks again for sharing your journey. Keep the pictures coming. Gene and Carol

Ahhhh...beat b and m this time in a comment dept. You guys are making good progress, and the tractor parade must have been a kick. Glad C and N are still going east. or is that North? After 10 days you must be getting rummy and ready to light for awhile, but you're in Michigan now, and rest will be soon. Enjoy the sights while you can...
Drive safe, J and J

Glad you're doing well. Allan liked the firetruck. I'm sure you must have a report on the Endurance Run/Lowland Tour weekend, so I won't bore you with details.

1. Why are almost all tractors painted red?
2. There was only one green John Deere.
3. I swear that last tractor had a rear wheel that wasn't turning!!

Update on our AC. Seems to be working, maybe not full speed but cooler air than yesterday. Of course it is cooler and lightly raining today.
